A guide to Better Quality Music (BQM).

Pop Filters

Something to be aware of is Sibilance and Plosives.  That is words that contain hard S’s.  Like when I Say I’m overemphaSizing the sibilance right now.”

Plosives on the other hand are the airburst P, T, K and B, D, G causing a distortion.

We can help cut down on the both of these with a pop filter. Pop filters usually connect to your mic stand and are usually made of fabric or metal.

Some voices naturally have more sibilance and/plosives than others and some mics pick up the amount of Sibilance differently depending on it’s frequency response.

The last effort we can do is to record slightly off axis.  When recording we want to do everything we can to get the best sound possible.
